VEYS PAVES WAY FOR ELSTON's FIGHTBACK

Eurosoccer Nottinghamshire Senior League: Division Three

ELSTON UNITED FC 3 GEDLING SOUTHBANK FC 2

A bright afternoon but we did get the odd shower of rain towards the end of the game, saw Division Three leaders Gedling Southbank on the road to Coronation Street, no not where Bettys famous hot pot is served, but in Balderton on the edge of Newark.

I was greeted by the manager and Chair of the home club and everytime I see Elston, their secretary always supplies me with a pork pie and with him being absent today, the pork pie wasnt as it was sent. The visiting players arrived and then experianced referee Gavin Rice and both teamsheets were in well before the 30 minute deadline.

I took up my stroller on the halfway line and joined by Carl and his son who is currently injured and a couple of his mates.

The match kicked off and Elston are a very young side whilst Southbank some of their players have played for a few clubs here and there. The youngsters of United started brightly and could well have been ahead after the Southbank keeper was tested after just 4 minutes.

Around the 10 minute mark, the visitors began to play themselves more in to the game and push forward a lot more.

In the 20th minute LEON SPALDING beat the home defender and then side footed past the keeper to knock his side in to the lead. After 23 minutes, Southbank were 2-0 up and looked strong, when JORDAN COLEMAN bustled his way into the area before finishing.

Things seemed to be going the visitors way but they always say a two goal lead is a dangerous cushion.

On the half hour, a poor defensive mistake saw EDWARD FURMAN take advantage of the error and reduce the arrears to give Elston some hope.

Things got worse for the visitors as the clock was ticking down towards half time, when a slip up in the defence again was latched on to run through and equalise, as the half time blew, there seemed to be a few choice words between a couple of the visiting team.

The Second Half kicked off and both sides were committed in pressing forward and both keepers and defences were being kept busy in this tight game.

In the 72nd minute, Southbank felt they should have had a penalty which was turned away and they switched off whilst appealing, whilst a long ball out of the United defence saw WILLIAM VEYS on the counter attack and score to complete the turn around.

The visitors pushed everyone forward but it wasnt to be their day.

May I thank Referee Gavin Rice for the kind donation of £10 towards the blogs charity BUTTERFLY which supports men, women and children that have suffered violent and mental abuse. The running total now stands at £2693.75p

UNITED IN SEVENTH HEAVEN

Velocity Wessex Cup - 2nd Round

PORTLAND UNITED FC 7 ROMSEY TOWN FC 0

Admission - oap £5

Excellent Programme £1

Badge £3

Att: 92

Portland United sitting 12th in the Wessex League Premier Division, though only played 7 matches and the only game they had lost, they missed a last minute penalty hosted Wessex League Division One club Romsey Town who were sitting n 3rd place, so maybe a close cup tie was in store.

I was greeted a lovely lady at the gate and she told me she would pop a programme to me when they had arrived, which she duly did and what a great programme it is, one of the best that I have seen for a long time, she then popped back with a team sheet for me. I then met the club chairman who kindly invited me for hospitality at half time.

The First Half I sat in the stand on the half way line and spoke with a lady with her young grandson and he was interested in me tweeting or what ever its called now days as the goals went in.

We didnt have to wait long for the first goal when JOE WICKHAM hit a 30 yard bullet in to the top corner of the net from a acute angle on the left hand side after just 5 minutes. On 22 minutes, it was 2-0 to the hosts, when JOE WICKHAM planted the ball in to the net from a left sided corner.

On 25 minutes, a corner from the right hand side found out SAM GADSBY who guided the ball home to make it 3-0. Things were to get worse for the visitors when a penalty was awarded against them after 29 minutes, where JOE WICKHAM stepped up to complete his hat trick.

On 39 minutes, a through ball saw LUKE SHEEHY run on to and finish and put his side in to a 5-0 lead. Right on half time, a corner was played in to the visitors penalty area which was not cleared and SAM GADSBY forced over the line.

The Second Half saw subs made by both clubs and the game slowed down and I stood with local James Spring who I have known for years and 2 of his friends behind the goal chatting away. After 83 minutes, a breakaway goal saw GREG BORTHWICK sprint through and place home his sides 7th goal.

I felt the 3 officials all had a superb match

Id like to thank Portland United FC for their kind hospitality and welcome to me and my wife.

THE MARSHALLS JUST COULDNT HOLT UNITED IN THE CUP

 Dorset Premier League Cup

STURMINSTER MARSHALL FC 0 HOLT UNITED FC 16

At the end of last season, Marshall's manager left the club along with all the players leaving the club to scrape about to keep the team going, they have to their credit fielded a team in each league game and after 9 games sit bottom with a goal difference of -75 including last week losing 19-1 away from home. A cup tie what good news a home tie, the sad news was against 2nd in the league Holt United FC.

A phonecall on the Friday evening to the home secretary Dave to confirm the match was on and he joked the tie would not go in to extra time. On arrival, I was met by a lush village green pitch, with 3 gentlemen walking round clipping on the advertising boards on to the respect barriers around the pitch, then a van appeared towing the dugouts to be put in place.

Both sides handed me their teamsheets for me to photo, so I could tweet or X or whatever its called now days as the goals sent in.

The game kicked off and in the first 5 minutes, it looked like there may just be a shock as the homesters had got a few of the old boys to turn out for them, a ball bounced off the post and then a one on one saw the ball just go wide of the post. This seemed to awaken the visitors and really end any hopes of a cupupset, as after 12 minutes, a cross from the right side saw SCOTT BUNGAY turn and shoot his side in to the lead. The visitors pressed forward but was finding the home keeper in fine form with 3 or 4 fine saves.

After 23 minutes, ALI GARARD doubled his sides advantage through his penalty kick. 3 minutes later, ALI GARARD picked up a ball from 30 yards and bent it into the top corner of the net to make it 3-0 to Holt.

Holt carried on pressing forward but were not making many chances at this stage of the game, the visiting crowd were grumbling they should be 10 up by now, I think they knew what was to possibly come later in the game. With quite a bit of injury time to play, on the 44th minute, a low ball from the right, was met by ALI GARARD inside the 6 yard box to tap in for his hat trick.

From the kick off on 45 minutes, the visitors won the ball and it was played forward for SONNY WILKINSON to fire home from a acute angle of 30 yards out. Just before the half time whistle, it became 6-0 to United when CHRIS MANNERS fired home.

With the half time talks out the way, the second half began and Holt were soon on the front foot and straight away increased their lead when ALI GARARD beat the offside trap and fired in to the far corner of the net. On 48 minutes KYLE CLEMENT-JOHN made it 8-0.

After 58 minutes, Holt were awarded a penalty after a trip, just was I was strolling past the penalty area, in my view a little bit harsh on the home side, but still the ref must have had a clearer view than myself,as they say, the game is all about angles. Up stepped SCOTT BUNGAY to convert the penalty, but the keeper very nearly stopped it.

Double figures wre reached on 62 minutes, when Holt got their 3rd spot kick of the tie and this time ALI GARARD stepped up and placed it in to the corner of the net.

The home side you could see the players beginning to tire and on 68 minutes, SCOTT BUNGAY completed his hat trick when rounding the keeper to tap home to make it 11-0 to his side. The following minute, it became 12 when SCOTT BUNGAY netted again. The goals were coming like buses now as in the next minute, a ball played across from the right wing found its way to the far post of the 6 yard box for ALI GARARD to scoop to head in.

After 72 minutes SAM BENNETT surged forward to hit a low shot past the keeper and the following minute SCOTT BUNGAY ran straight through the home defence to finish.

The Marshalls then seemed to have their best spell of the match and played some good passing football and had a couple of shots on target, but in the 85th minute, a free kick from the right was fumbled by the home keeper(possibly the only mistake he had made in the whole match) and that man ALI GARARD forced the ball over the line to make it 16-0 to Holt United.

Both sides a credit to the Dorset Premier League, its good to hear no bad langague on the pitch from both sets of players, both teams wanting to just play with smiles on their faces, I must also mention the 3rd team, the set of 3 officials who I thought had a outstanding game.

CHERRIES PROCEED AFTER CUP VICTORY AT BALTI

 Dorset Premier League Cup

BALTI SPORTS FC 1 STURMINSTER NEWTON UNITED FC 5

Admission £4

Programme and badge £3

Tea £1.20

Attendance: 41(Headcount)

Balti Sports were formed and their named after a bunch lads used to go to the local Balti after the matches, whilst their visitors are nicknamed the Cherries.

Today the two sides met the Dorset Premier League Cup, with the visitors in fine form sitting second in the league table, whilst the homesters have lost a couple of games recently.

The game began and the visitors were being matched by Sports and it was the home side who created the first two corners of the match, but on 16 minutes with the visitors first chance of the game,  a csroos from the left wing to the far post  was tapped back for BUDDY OSHEA to net to put the Cherries in front.

Balti possibly had their best period of the game but wasnt really crating too many clear cut chances, until the 26th minute, when DEREK WALL turned his defender and fired home from 25 yards to equalise.

This seemed to awaken the visitors as they began to pass the ball around the pitch and in the 37th minute, a nice move dwn the left hand side saw the ball played across for ELLIOTT BEVIS to fire home.

Just before half time, the home keeper went down injured but was able to carry on.

The Second Half kicked off and the visitors looked more dangerous and on 48 minutes exended their lead to 3-1 when JAMIE DANORIS cut in and fire in.

Balti made changes and pressed forward but this left gaps to which the visitors exploited and after 57 minutes extended their lead, when a corner from the right hand side was volleyed home by NEIL SWEATMAN.

Balti had a few chances but they went high and wide but they didnt give up trying, but on 68 minute, a Cherriesball was played from the left for JAMIE DANORIS to complete the scoring.

After 73 minutes, the home keeper had to be replaced and the sub keeper did very well to block and throw his body at anything that came his way.

The tie was a good one played in the right respectable manner between two teams that wanted to play football and a credit to the Dorset Premier League.

OLYMPICS BIG DAY DOESNT QUITE END UP IN SEVENTH HEAVEN

Eurosoccer Nottinghamshire Senior League: Division Two

NOTTS OLYMPIC FC 3 BUYGLASS.CO REINDEER 7

Programmes £1

Badges £3

Att: 71

Refreshments available

History was made at the Gallows Playing fields in Ilkeston, as Notts Olympic FC played their first home match in over 100 years as they made their home debut v Buyglass.co Reindeer of Mansfield.

Programmes had been pre ordered by post and also to be ordered for the day, the agreement being that the programme I edited, any one that I got via post, the money would go to the charity Butterfly and any ordered or sold on the day would go to the club to cover the referee and other club costs.

Notts Olympic were well set up off the pitch with the selling of tea, coffee, crisps etc and on my stall I put the club badges as the hoppers from as far as Edinburgh to Lowestoft to Sittingbourne and beyond could buy them at the same time as picking up their programme.

The game kicked off and the visitors were soon on the attack and could well have been ahead after just 15 seconds, but they werent to worry as after just 5 minutes, they were when a JACK SELLARS shot flew into the net. Reindeer pushed forward but the home keeper went down and a sub keeper came on. On 12 minutes with Olympic's first effort KIAN NORTH struck home a 30 yard shot from the left hand side.

The game was going from end to end with lots of chances going begging, but on 25 minutes, a ball from the left wing, split the home defence for KEIRON WOOD to tap in from inside the 6 yard box, it was noticeable at this stage that the sub keeper was limping.

Half Time came and changers were made and another keeper took charge inside the Olympic net, but he couldnt do anything after 55 minutes when JACK SELLARS tapped ome to make it 3-1 to his side.

Olympic pressed forward but this left gaps and on the hour, SAM MURPHY hit a low cross shot in to the bottom corner to put Reindeer 4-1 up.

Olympic in the 67th minute made 2 more subs and it was the following minute that one of them JULIAN COATES with his first touch reduced the arrears. What a goal does to a teams confidence as in the next minute KIAN NORTH reduced it to 4-3, was the fightback on?

Sadly not for Olympic as in the 71st and 72nd minutes, SAM MURPHY hit a brace, the second one chipping over the keeper to complete his hat trick to make it 6-3.

Just in to injury time, SAM MURPHY scored his 4th and his sides 7th of the match for Reindeer to return to Mansfield with the points.

All comments from all the hoppers towards Notts Olympic FC were very good and I think all enjoyed their day out.

On to the Charity Blog..Raised from the posted programmes was £60, so a MASSIVE thankyou to Notts Olympic FC, A Notts Olympic fan KEIR ROBINSON kindly donated £10 and Hull based groundhopper Dave Phillipson kindly donated £5, which now takes the running total to a amazing £2,600.25p

SECOND HALF BEESTON SEES THEM BLAZE PAST YOUNG COLTS

Eurosoccer Nottinghamshire Senior League: Premier Division

BEESTON FC 3 - 1 WEST BRIDGFORD COLTS II

With having booked tickets for the Wrestling in Beeston, this match caught my eye straight away, as Beeston FC were promoted last season and West Bridgford had rebuilt their team, infact the visitors in this match played with 7 16 year olds and a 17 year old, so all looking well for them for the future if they can keep the players together.

With both teamsheets in after a good catch up with all 3 officials, I took my place on the halfway line in time for kick off.

The Colts started strongly and were ahead after just 96 seconds, when a ball was played in from the right wing and JOSHUA WRIGHT found himself alone in the 6 yard box to clip past the home keeper.

The First half saw Beeston only play with one man up front whilst the youngsters of the Colts were pressing forward and the Beeston keeper was forced in to 3 fine saves to keep the score down. A lot of players in the heat of the hottest day of the year seemed to just want to run with the ball rather than save energy and pass it about.

Something must have been said in the Beeston camp at half time, as 47 seconds in to the second half, the ball was half cleared out of the Colts defence only for AARON RIGLEY to fire home to level things up.

Beeston began to play with more attacking play but Colts were also pressing at the opposite end of the well looked after pitch, but it was noticable that the young legs were beginning to tire.

Subs were made by both teams and this seemed to aid the homesters, when a ball from midfield found out MORGAN BELL who turned his man and fired low into the far corner of the net after 64 minutes.

Colts werent to give up and pressed again on the right side and a cross shot beat the keeper but 2 defenders cleared the ball off the line, whilst Beeston pressed forward and a 25 yard shot was turned over the bar.

After 82 minutes, sub and Beeston man through and through, saw a ball cleared out to the right wing some 40 yards out, where he took it on the volley that flew in the net to make it 3-1..I recall him scoring a free kick some years ago from the same distance v Ravenshead FC at Beeston's old ground of Layton Crescent.

I feel that all match officials, Referee Ian Wilkinson and his team of the Assistants Steve Hines & Michael Evans were very impressive today.

SECOND HALF TURN ROUND EARNS APPLES THE POINTS

Eurosoccer Nottinghamshire Senior League: Division Two

AFC COLSTERWORTH S & S 3 SHIREBROOK SOLDIERS 2

A last gasp winner by the home side nicknamed the apples saw a hard fought game secure the points.

Before the match, all at the ground respectfully observed a minutes silence for Graham Saville who sadly lost his life whilst on duty att work, Graham was a coach at Ravenshead Reds FC Youth

The First Half saw end to end action with both keeper in good form, but it was the visitors who took the lead on 25 minutes, when a Charlesworth saw the home keeper parry the ball out only for KIERAN DARBY to scoop home with his head close in.

Half time came and Colsterworth were straight on the attack and after 47 minutes, CONOR McGREGOR converted a penalty to even up the score.

This seemed to push the confidance in the homesters and they took the lead on 54 minutes when a long throw was touched and LIAM JAQUES volleyed home.

Just after the hour mark, the visitors saw red  as they were reduced to ten men, but they carried on pressing forward. On 75 minutes, they were level when BEN CHARLESWORTH drew them level through the spot.

The game began to get niggly as both sides were going for the win, but in to injury time, a ball played in to the visiting box found out LIAM JAQUES to squeeze home the winner.

VALE RESERVES KEEP UP 100 PRE CENT RECORD

Eurosoccer Nottinghamshire Senior League: Division Three

MEDEN VALE COLTS RESERVES 2-1 CALVERTON MW RESERVES

A bad start to the day with a fall on the bus, but quick dinner with Shawn then Hazel who had been babysitter two of or grandchildren rang to say she was heading home, so she detoured and met up with us, so she was able to give us a lift to the ground.

I was greeted on arrival by the Colts Reserve Team manager and soon began chatting to some of the Calverton squad as they arrived.

Jason the Colts first team manager was able to gain access to the kitchen to get me a cuppa and then had a chat with todays match referee Joshua Stanley and a chat with the Calvo manager, with both teamsheets in and a cuppa, i took up my stroller on the halfway line for kick off.

The First half saw the visiting keeper seeing more of the ball than the home keeper, with many chances going high and wide.

In the 36th minute saw the homester break the deadlock, when a cross from the right hand side, found the head of CALLUM ASHBY who guided the ball home.

On 49 minutes, a visiting defender was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the box and the referee pointed directly to the penalty spot, much to the disagreement of the Miners. Up stepped captain KYLE CROOK to place the ball in to the bottom right hand corner of the net to double his sides advantage to 2-0. Calverton were still not happy and were reduced to 10 players.

Meden kept pressing forward whilst Calverton proved very stubborn and were playing better football at times, infact they didnt give up as on 79 minutes, DANNY MARLEY cut in from the right wing and placed a shot home to reduce the arrears.

A mention for Match Referee Joshua Stanley who I felt did very well in a game that had its flashpoints.

The Charity Blog in aid of the Charity BUTTERFLY has a running total now of £2.521.00

CAPTAIN SCOTT's DOUBLE LEADS THE RANGERS TO A WIN

Eurosoccer Nottinghamshire Senior League: Premier Division

WOODTHORPE PARK RANGERS FC 5 RAVENSHEAD FC 0

The match that should have kicked off at 6.30pm but with a incident that caused gridlock all over the Nottinghamshire area, it took us a hour and a half to do a 25 minute journey to Eagle Valley, all the Woodthorpe players were there and their teamsheet handed in, but out on the pitch, Ravenshead only had 4 players and poor Ross looked towards the gates as he was waiting for players to arrive, eventually they managed to get 13 players, so the game kicked off a little later.

It was infact the visitors who gave the hosts the first scare of the game on 5 minutes, when the ball flashed across the 6 yard area and only needed a touch to find the net.

On 9 minutes, Rangers broke forward and saw a forward upended in the penalty area and referee Scott Pickworth pointed straight to the spot, but there was a 4 minute delay as at the other end of the pitch, the home keeper needed treatment. The penalty was duly dispatched by captain CONNOR SCOTT-PARKIN.

Things soon got worse for the visitors in the 17th minute, when the ball was half cleared to just outside the box, for CONNOR SCOTT-PARKIN to rifle home a low shot.

Rangers kept pressing forward whilst Ravenshead played on the counter attack, but very few chances or goalkeepers tested.

The Second Half kicked off and Woodthorpe pressed forward and in the 49th minute, a long ball from midfield, found the head of CONOR CROFT which drifted over the head of the keeper to male it 3-0.

On 54 minutes, it became 4-0, when Woodthorpe were awarded afree kick 25 yards out to the left hand side of the penalty area, to which KIERAN WHEAT hit the target.

The game looked as if it was going to finish 4-0 as it was more of a midfield battle and the visitors wrre playing a lot better than they had earlier in the match, but in the 84th minute, could do little when DALTON STEPHENS cut in from the right hand side and fired home to make it 5-0.

A excellent performance from all 3 match officials.

With the 5 goals scored, it now takes the charity blog running total up to a amazing amount of £2,520.25p for BUTTERFLY

NEWCOMERS WHITESTAR BEAT YOUNG PEGASUS

Eurosoccer Nottinghamshire Senior League Division Three

LANGWITH WHITESTAR FC 2 PEGAGUS FC 1

When looking at fixtures a few weeks ago, this one stood out for several reasons, Hazel and Shawn came back from Preston on Thursday night after a week away, so needed a match close to home where she could drop me off, so she could get home with a pile of washing to catch up on. This match fitted the bill, Langwith Whitestar FC were and still have a Sunday team, but they have joined the Notts Senior League as a Saturday team, whilst Pegagus FC have been with the league in the Development Division with very young players, with their under 16's coming in now they are 17's in to the development division, Pegagus stepped up their other side in to Division Three.

Last Saturday both sides began with wins, but in midweek both suffered defeats, so I really wasnt sure what to expect from either team today.

On arrival, the ground is a recreation ground, with changing room and toilet and the refs room, where I was kindly made a cuppa by the hosts. At the side of the pitch on both sides are a couple of park benches to sit on. I strolled over to the far side of the pitch,as friends Herbie & Sue who are sponsors of this Charity Blog stayed on the changing room side of the ground.

The game kicked off and Whitestar looked strong going forward but it was noticable that the visitors had a very young line up, infact I found out later that 3 of them that played the 90 minutes were only 16 years old. The hosts kept pressing forward but the Pegagus defence stood tall until the 22nd minute, when CODY ELLIOTT forced a loose ball home from close range after a corner on the right hand side.

On 27 minutes, Langwith could have doubled their lead through a penalty but Samuel Dockwray's spot kick was saved by the Pegagus keeper. I was then joined by the Langwith Chairman Kyle Barnes and I  asked him if called Whitestar, why do they play in Orange, when they took over the club, it had nothing and a lot of work had to be done off the pitch to make it in to a ground, the players were then asked what colour kit they should have and they chose orange as white is difficult to wash and get clean on those muddy days.

Langwith kept pressing forward and looked the more likely to score as they missed chance after chance, whilst the visitors had the odd breakaway chance.

After 63 minutes, Langwith did infact increase their lead when SAMUEL DOCKWRAY blasted the ball home from the right hand side of the penalty area.

On 70 minutes, Pegasus thought they had scored, when a free kick was floated in from the left wing and up jumped Ben Evans to head home, but the linesmans flag went up and the match referee ruled the goal offside.

Pegasus to their credit kept battling away and on 82 minutes, JOSHUA HALES beat the offside trap and chipped the ball past the keeper.

I must give a mention to late appointed referee ADAM CLEMENTS who I felt had a excellent match and you didnt even notice him as he allowed the play to run smoothly.

RICHARDSON'S BRACE SECURES POINTS FOR THE REDS

Eurosoccer Nottinghamshire Senior League Division Three

RAVENSHEAD REDS FC 3 EASTWOOD & KIMBERLEY FC 0

With Hazel away still up in Preston at her daughters,I caught the local bus in to Mansfield and then the pronto bus which drop me near to the Hutt pub, a walk with my stroller that takes 2 minutes in car took me over 30 minutes to reach the ground, as the sun shone down.

The game kicked off with both teams winning their opening matches on Saturday so a close game to watch I thought.

The First Half saw the visitors with much of the forward play and the better of the chances, whilst the Reds battled at the back to see the end of the first half at 0-0.

The Second Half kicked off and the Reds were on the front foot straight away and on 47 minutes LEIGHTON RICHRDSON cut in from the left side and slotted his team in to a 1-0 lead.

Eastwood & Kimberley kept coming forward but were met by stout defending or good saves from the home keeper.

As the game went in to the 2nd minute of injury time, a counter attack break by the homesters saw NICOLAS HINES net to double his teams advantage.

From the restart, the Reds regained the ball and LEIGHTON RICHARDSON made it 3-0. There was still time for them to rattle the post from a shot in the final seconds.

On another day the visitors could well have bagged five or six goals, so will be disappointed but will bounce back, as the result will give Ravenshead Reds a chance to push on.

Many thanks to Match Official Derek Spray for kindly giving me a lift home

CALVERTON'S DEFENCE GIVE WOLLATON THE POINTS

Eurosoccer Nottinghamshire Senior League: Division Two

CALVERTON MINERS WELFARE FC 1 WOLLATON FC RESERVES 4

With Hazel away at her daughters with Shawn and our grandson, it looked like I wouldnt be able to get to a match but then Calverton MW manager rang me as he needed to pick up his teamsheet book and offered me a lift to and back home from the match.

Calverton MW have new shirt sponsoring, as boxing world champion Leigh Wood lives in the village and has sponsored their kit.

At 2,30pm a deluge of heavy rain began, but within 15 minutes, the sun came back out.

The match kicked off and both sides had good chances, but on 9 minutes a loose back pass from a Calverton defender saw ROBERT WALLACE whips in and strike the ball past the home keeper to give his side the lead.

Two minutes later and it was 2-0 as a cross from the left wing found the head of ROBERT WALLACE for him to guide the ball home.

Calverton did have chances but couldnt convert any and things got worse for them when on 27 minutes, a corner from the left side found out SAMMY JOE SMITH who nedged the ball home.

Half time came and Calverton used all their subs, but after just 12 seconds of the half, one of them fell down to the ground in much pain and had to be helped off and it looked like he had broken his collarbone, letsall hope that isnt as bad as it looked, this meant that the homesters had to play the rest of the match with 10 players.

Calverton did have the odd chance but Wollaton looked more likely to add to their tally to which they did in the 76th minute, when another misguided back pass, this time saw STEPHEN LAMBERT fired hsteam in to a 4 goal lead.

To Calverton;s credit, they kept trying to play and in the final minute found a way through the Wollaton defence for JACK CRAIG to round the visiting keeper to score a consolation goal.

Must give a mention to match referee JOHN WOODWARD who I felt had a excellent match.

Before and after the match, I would like to thank Referee John Woodward for donating £5, Ruben Clay for donating £10 from Wollaton Reserves FC and to Rob Musson who donated £5 on behalf of Calverton MW FC, which now takes the running total to £2,517.50p for the charity BUTTERFLY.

EASTGATE'S HAT TRICK ADDS TO UNITED's MISERY DAY

Eurosoccer Nottinghamshire Senior League: Premier Division

SOUTHWELL CITY RESERVES 6 - 2 KEYWORTH UNITED FC

Southwell City Reserves kicked off their 1st ever campaign in Premier Division of the NSL with a 6-2 victoty over a Keyworth United team that were reduced to nine players as they saw 2 red cards and at times played with 8 players due to a couple of sin bins.

just before kick off, Keyworth keeper Glenn Guyatt donated £20 and Jeff from Southwell City Reserves kindly donated £5 towards the Charity Blog in aid of Butterfly.

The game kicked off and th visitors took a early lead on just 2 minutes when THOMAS SISWICK netted after a good move.

The Zebras were soon back on level terms after 9 minutes when FRASER BRICKNELL converted a penalty after a handball situation.

Keyworth then had the first of their players sent off on 12 minutes, in the 28th minute, they saw rd when they wee reduced to 9 players. Southwell pressed forward but it didnt look like their 2 man advantage was going to count as we were heading towards half time, but a minute in to injury time, the homesters made the breakthrough when HENRY EASTGATE skipped the ball over the forward coming keeper to make to 2-1. With 4 minutes of added time, a neat move by Southwell saw them increase their lead through SAM ROBINSON.

36 seconds in to the second half and it was 4-1 when HENRY EASTGATE scooped the ball in to the far corner of the net.

After 54 minutes, HENRY EASTGATE sscored his hat trick, then on the hour KEYSHAWNN BONSU made it 6-1 with his first touch of the ball.

In the 80th minute, the home keeper made 4 saves in one keyworth attack, but they didnt give up and THOMAS SISWICK pulled a goal back in the 85th minute.

Attendance was 48

This Years Charity is BUTTERFLY which supports men, women and children that have been in abusive relationships, with the donations and goals scored today, it takes the running £2,497.25p

CHARITY BUTTERFLY WIN THE DAY

Photo Taken by Nicola Taylor

Aroundthegrounds Charity Blog Charity Day 2023

Hucknall Town FC kindly offered me their pitch and facilities but up till Tuesday the matches would be played on the outside pitch, but a decision was made to play both games on the main pitch. I had a lot of the NSL Rep Team drop out 1 by 1 and so both games had to be played by the same players for the Rep side which they did them and their clubs proud. Each player made a donation to play and Hucknall Town's players had also had a whip round.

I made a choice this year not to manage the teams, so I could take things a bit more easier and I could walk round( well infact stroll round on my stroller and chat away to people and thank them for their support. With last years manager Arnold Town Reserves manager, Id also got other managers in Southwell Citys Reserves Manager Brett Bramwell, Awsworth Villa FC Chairman Kev Buxton and the first time in NSL History a lady Manager in Nicola Taylor.

The First Game kicked off and was quite a good match with Rep Team winning 2-0, I really should of got the champaign out then, but as I walked round the tombola had nearly sold out and folks were still coming through the turnstitles, with league committee member Kirsty and her friend having manned it during the first game and doing a great job before my stepdaughter Sarah took over and Hazel also mucking in.

Just before the end of the 1st mach ended, Jordan the founder of the charity BUTTERFLY came along with 3 of her children and thanked the crowd who was very generous in their applause.

The 5 officials all gave up their time free of charge and also had a go on the raffle, even Sarah tried to charge them £3 to get in!!!

The Second Game kicked off but Hucknall Town's 1st team arent at step 5 for no reason and played some really good football, but the tired legs of the NSL Rep team did themselves credit by not giving up, they may well have lost 9-0 and 9-2 over the 2 matches but there was no losers, as the winners were the charity BUTTERFLY and on the whole event when counted up, we had raised a amazing £1,880.00, without everyone behind the scenes from raffle sponsors, to people who help out on the day, no matter how little or much they do, these things dont run like clockwork, so thankyou to everyone for making the day a success.

Those that have never read my Aroundthegrounds Charity Blog before, I  choose a small charity around January/February and look  for the ones without paid workers, so the raised money goes directly to the users. Each game I attend I put 25p in to the charity bank account and when going to matches folks come up or clubs have a whip round for the blog, come around March, I present the cheque over to the charity, on my blog is a list of donators and a running total, so you will see that the amount raised from the charity match has been added and the running total at present stands at £2,450.25p

I do know a few folks asked my wife if they could make a donation as they had no cash on them, they can do a bank transfer on

HARRIS MAKES IT A TROPHY TREBLE FOR THE SAXONS

Eurosoccer Nottinghamshire Senior League Intermediate Cup Final

STAPLEFORD TOWN RESERVES 1 KIMBERLEY MW RESERVES 0

Att: 240

Played at The Stag Ground, Kimberley

Played in baking sunshine on possibly the hottest day of the year, a young Kimberley Miners Welfare team took on Stapleford Town Reserves in front of a crowd of 240 plus a lot of kids in attendance.

Was greeted on arrival by Danny Staley who Ive known since  he used to go to the Stag Ground as a small kid and was soon armed with a cuppa.

On to the players gate and with both squads inside the ground, it was time to meet the match officials and with both line ups, it was soon on to the pitch to announce them.

The First Half, I took up in the seated stand around the half way line, whilst Hazel went round selling the charity raffle tickets.

The First Half saw both teams block each other out, but it was the Miners who had the best chances in the final few minutes of the half, when striking the crossbar and also the Stapleford keeper blocking a few shots.

The Second Half saw the Saxons pressing more forward as I walked to the far corner of the ground and had a chat with a local chap and on the hour, the Miners were reduced down to ten players, it wasa incident that I cant say I saw, Infact I didnt notice they were down to ten men until someone mentioned it later in the game.

Into extra time and Town were first out the blocks with a ball bobbling around the penalty area before HARRIS MAQSOOD fired home in the 93rd minute to give his side the lead.

Both teams pushed but to no avail and after Town;s 1st team had won the Premier League Championship and the County Cup Trophy, the Reserves added their name in to some silverware.

Before the presentations, was a very special one from the Nottinghamshire Senior League to John Beeston who was Secretary for the final time of Kimberley MW FC this afternoon and was heavily involved in the set up of the Nottinghamshire Senior League, as well as being in local non league football scene for many years.

I must thank everyone bought raffle tickets today, to which Hazel raised £104 to  take the running total for BUTTERFLY to £530.00

The next match I will be attending is the Charity Match Im organsing on Saturday 1st July on the outside pitch of the NEW Hucknall Town FC ground, there is a MASSIVE Raffle with already over 60 prizes collect, the tickets are already on sale at £5 per strip. KING SCOTT CROWNS A HAT TRICK ON CORONATION DAY

Eurosoccer Nottinghamshire Senior League: Premier Division

AWSWORTH VILLA FC 7 RADCLIFFE OLYMPIC FC 2

Not having been to Awsworth for a while and not having seen Radcliffe Olympic for ages, this match fitted my bill for today, I do like Awsworth's ground where you can sit at the top of the hill and lookdown on the pitch above the players and is great for taking photos, when not raining of course.

A greeting from both clubs on arrival and from todays 3 league officials, Ref Lee Harrison and his assistants Tim Bee and Kev Guise and a shock to get both teamsheets a hour before kick off. With the rain I knew the benches on the hill would be wet, but some one had thrown in the inside bin and cardboard box for me to rip up on put on the bench so I didnt get a wet bum.

I was soon joined by Groundhopping father and son from Retford and a quick hello from local hopper Wayne Morrison, but it also good to see a old friend in attendance Albert Greaves.

The game kicked off and it was like a end of the season game, where someone had to nudge you if there was a chance as both teams were cancelling each other out, but on 24 minutes, KANE BRADY beat the offside trap to put the Villa in front.

Half time came and went and Awsworth Chairperson bought me a cuppa, the second half kicked off and it was noticed by Albert that Radcliffe only had 10 players on the pitch, though had 4 subs named on the teamsheet, but maybe they put them on incase they turned up late.

It was the 10 men of Olympic who had the first chance of the second half with a shot what went narrowly wide, but on 52 minutes after a nice move by the homesters doubled their lead to 2-0 through THOMAS SCOTT. Four minutes later, a corner from the right side found a unmarked THOMAS SCOTT who headed home to make it 3-0.

On 62 minutes, Radcliffe pulled a goal back, when a corner from the left was headed downwards towards goal and hit the back of the net by JAKE MORRIS.

On 67 Minutes, Radcliffe were given a lifeline when they got a penalty, captain Paul Durham hit it low and the home keeper guessed the correct direction, from the clearence, it set MASON PROCTOR SMITH free to round the Olympic keeper to make it 4-1.

The Visitors were not giving up and on 73 minutes, BASSEY OKON reduced the arrears to 4-2.

On 80 minutes, the visitors with 10 players legs began to tire and Villa began to press forward and a shot from just inside the box from THOMAS SCOTT found the back of the net to complete his hat trick. Within 40 seconds sub AARON COYLE found the net to make it 6-2, by now even the referee was losing count of the goals.

In the final minute just as the rain began to fall, AARON COYLE finished the goal scoring off to make it 7-2

I thought all 3 officials had a great game with bookings and both teams wanting to play football.

After the match in the pub, referee Lee Harrison donated £5 to the charity blog, so with the goals scored it takes the blog running total to £426.00, also I would like to thank all 3 officials plus All Awsworth Committee Members and players for buying raffle tickets for the upcoming NSL Charity Day which after the event wiil of course be added on to the running total of the Charity Blog for BUTTERFLY

MOORE FOR LINBY ENDS WINLESS ROVERS SEASON

Central Midlands League: Premier Division South

ASHLAND ROVERS FC 1 LINBY CW FC 2

I was due to go to this fixture a few weeks ago but due to bad weather it was postponed until tonight, both these clubs are very well run by non league football people but going in to the game Ashland had failed to register a win all season whilst linby had secured a mid table slot.

On Arrival I was greeted by Mr Ashland John Dawn and given a programme and a cuppa, as on the way to the ground the heavens opened, hence no photos from the match, Then a catch up with Adi Ward from Linby who bought back memories of the Notts Alliance days when he was involved with Hucknall Rolls Royce FC and whilst I did the Dunkirk programme I did the Hucknall Rolls programme for a season as well. He then kindly donated £10 to the charity blog and during the match John Dawn kindly donated £20 towards this years charity BUTTERFLY.

With both teamsheets in, I got a copy of each and John got me a chair to sit on at pitchside to watch the match.

The game began very evenly with both young goalkeepers in fine form, but after just 9 minutes, it was Rovers who had taken aearly lead, when after a foul was given just outside the area, up stepped KORBEN SPIER to slot the free kick home.

Linby began to press forward and on 17 minutes were awarded a penalty, the Ashland keeper guessed which way MASON MOORE's kick was going but could only push out for the penalty taker to follow up and put the ball in to the back of the net.

Both sides were creating chances and it was hard to understand how the homesters hadnt won a game all season at the half time stage.

The Second Half saw Linby up their game and press forward whilst Rovers had the odd attack, but on 64 minutes the game changed, when firstly a home player was sent to the sin bin and then within 3 minutes were reduced to 9 players whwn they had a second player sent to the sin bin.

Linby didnt make the two man advantage count but just as Ashland was back to 10 players, they got a corner on the right hand side that was floated in to the area, the linby defence cleared a long ball to the right winger who then crossed to the back post for 17 year old MASON MOORE to slot in to a empty net.

In to injury time and Rovers had a corner and pushed everyone up in to the area and a shot that looked goalbound was superly stopped by the visiting keeper and the rebound was hammered over the crossbar and over the top of the changing room area.

So with the donations of £30 from both clubs and the 25p per goal seen, it now takes the charity blog running total up to £418.75p for BUTTERFLY, a charity that supports people, men and women and children who have been in abusive relationships, sadly I was a victim when a child and saw things that a child have to see or be beaten, hence why I ran away from home in Birmingham when 15 years ld and lived on the streets of Nottingham in the winter.

If anyone would like to make a donation, no matter how small, you can make a bank transfer to my charity blog account..the details are as follows:

LATE VINEYARD FIGHTBACK SEES OF THE REDS

Eurosoccer Nottinghamshire Senior League: Division Three

TRENT VINEYARD FC 4 RAVENHEAD REDS FC 3

Well this match was played at the Weirside Ground in Beeston, a place I never knew existed, the field is surrounded by barges and locks and has 3 football pitches and on the first pitch, Division One match between Beeston Old Boys v East Leake Robins was taking place and local hopper from Arnold Michael had come to watch that game.

We had our 2 year old grandson Elijah with us and it was his first ever football match he had ever been to, though Hazel took him for a walk around the marina.

Settled on my seat on the half way line and with both teamsheets in hand, the game kicked off and the Reds(well they were wearing white today, whilst Vineyard wore red) looked the brighter of the two teams.

The Trentsiders pushed forward but didnt create any chances but several corners they were cleared, whilst the visitors played a long ball tactic over the top of the home defence for their attack to run on to.

On 14 minutes, a cross from the left side found out RHYS WILLIAMS to run on to and stroke the visitors in to the lead. The visitors pressed on and began to play alot better passing game and on 21 minutes doubled their league when NICOLAS HINES hit a shot from the edge of the area.

On 24 minutes, things got worse for the homesters when a cross from the right, found out MAX GOSS at the far post to head home to make it 3-0.

Vineyard began to grab a few corners and as half time neared, a corner from the left side was headed home by RORY LEWIS to reduce the score.

Half Time came and Trent Vineyard looked a different team winning the 50/50 balls and pushing forward. After 53 minutes, they were back in the game, when PEDRO CANAS cut in from the left and hit a low shot in to the bottom far corner of the net.

With subs made on both sides, The Reds had a few chances but couldnt add to their total and in the 80th minute, a cross from the let side was met by RORY LEWIS who drew the scores level at 3-3.

Both teams battled and pushed for the winner and in the final minute, a cross shot by IMMANUEL DUBE clinched the winner and come back for the home side, sad;y the keeper was driving struck his head on the post and was treated and had to be helped off, so hopefully he is ok.

I must thank Trent Vineyard FC for a donation of £20 and Ravenshead Reds FC of £10 kindly donated to the charity blog for BUTTERFLY and with the 7 goals scored takes the running total to £218.00.

SOLDIERS SAVAGE GUNS DOWN BRAVE ATHLETIC

Derbyshire FA Junior Cup Final North

SHIREBROOK SOLDIERS FC 2 TINTWHISTLE ATHLETIC RESERVES FC 1

Att: 206

The Derbyshire FA Junior Cup North Final was held at Staveley Miners Welfare FC, a ground Id not visited for around 15 years and with Shirebrook Soldiers FC reaching the Final, I went as the Nottinghamshire Senior League Representative. Their opponents Tintwhistle Athletic Reserves ply their trade in the Manchester League and it is a village just outside of Glossop that Ive been through many a time, when going up to my daughters in Preston and the M62 is blocked, so diverted through snake pass and on to the M67.

The game kicked off and Athletic were awarded a penalty after just 48 seconds, up stepped Alexander Elliott who saw his shot hit the post and rebounded to another player who struck a shot goalbound but was stopped by the Soldiers keeper and cleared to safety.

Four minutes in to the game,  Shirebrook had their first chance when a ball down the centre saw ROBBIE SAVAGE beat his defender and drew the keeper before lifting it over his head in to a empty net to give his side the lead.

Soldiers had a few more chances and needed that second goal, as Tintwhistle looked dangerous going forward. The half time whistle went and it was off for hospitality for a nice cuppa.

Shirebrook came out and had a few shots saved but at 1-0 it looked as this game was far from over and in the 61st minute, Tintwhistle wee awarded another penalty to which BRANDON WOOD slotted away down the middle of the goal.

This seemed to spur Athletic's hopes as they were playing the better football and pushing more players up front whilst Soldiers played with a lone striker and played on the counter attack. Like any final, the game had its fair amount of tackles going in and the match referee did well producing yellow cards when he needed to.

As the 90 minutes was up and it began to spot with rain, a ball out to the right hand side found ROBBIE SAVAGE who beat his defender and curled the ball in to the far corner of the net for the winning goal and creating history in the Nottinghamshire Senior League club to win a Derbyshire FA Trophy

All credit go to Tintwhistle Athletic Reserves and all the best to them in their upcoming cup final in May

I only took a few photos last night from my phone but sadly they have come out very well.

The Charity Blog running total is now up to £186.25p for BUTTERFLY
