Eurosoccer Nottinghamshire Senior League: Premier Division
WOODTHORPE PARK RANGERS FC 5 RAVENSHEAD FC 0
The match that should have kicked off at 6.30pm but with a incident that caused gridlock all over the Nottinghamshire area, it took us a hour and a half to do a 25 minute journey to Eagle Valley, all the Woodthorpe players were there and their teamsheet handed in, but out on the pitch, Ravenshead only had 4 players and poor Ross looked towards the gates as he was waiting for players to arrive, eventually they managed to get 13 players, so the game kicked off a little later.
It was infact the visitors who gave the hosts the first scare of the game on 5 minutes, when the ball flashed across the 6 yard area and only needed a touch to find the net.
On 9 minutes, Rangers broke forward and saw a forward upended in the penalty area and referee Scott Pickworth pointed straight to the spot, but there was a 4 minute delay as at the other end of the pitch, the home keeper needed treatment. The penalty was duly dispatched by captain CONNOR SCOTT-PARKIN.
Things soon got worse for the visitors in the 17th minute, when the ball was half cleared to just outside the box, for CONNOR SCOTT-PARKIN to rifle home a low shot.
Rangers kept pressing forward whilst Ravenshead played on the counter attack, but very few chances or goalkeepers tested.
The Second Half kicked off and Woodthorpe pressed forward and in the 49th minute, a long ball from midfield, found the head of CONOR CROFT which drifted over the head of the keeper to male it 3-0.
On 54 minutes, it became 4-0, when Woodthorpe were awarded afree kick 25 yards out to the left hand side of the penalty area, to which KIERAN WHEAT hit the target.
The game looked as if it was going to finish 4-0 as it was more of a midfield battle and the visitors wrre playing a lot better than they had earlier in the match, but in the 84th minute, could do little when DALTON STEPHENS cut in from the right hand side and fired home to make it 5-0.
A excellent performance from all 3 match officials.
With the 5 goals scored, it now takes the charity blog running total up to a amazing amount of £2,520.25p for BUTTERFLY
