SECOND HALF BEESTON SEES THEM BLAZE PAST YOUNG COLTS

Eurosoccer Nottinghamshire Senior League: Premier Division

BEESTON FC 3 - 1 WEST BRIDGFORD COLTS II

With having booked tickets for the Wrestling in Beeston, this match caught my eye straight away, as Beeston FC were promoted last season and West Bridgford had rebuilt their team, infact the visitors in this match played with 7 16 year olds and a 17 year old, so all looking well for them for the future if they can keep the players together.

With both teamsheets in after a good catch up with all 3 officials, I took my place on the halfway line in time for kick off.

The Colts started strongly and were ahead after just 96 seconds, when a ball was played in from the right wing and JOSHUA WRIGHT found himself alone in the 6 yard box to clip past the home keeper.

The First half saw Beeston only play with one man up front whilst the youngsters of the Colts were pressing forward and the Beeston keeper was forced in to 3 fine saves to keep the score down. A lot of players in the heat of the hottest day of the year seemed to just want to run with the ball rather than save energy and pass it about.

Something must have been said in the Beeston camp at half time, as 47 seconds in to the second half, the ball was half cleared out of the Colts defence only for AARON RIGLEY to fire home to level things up.

Beeston began to play with more attacking play but Colts were also pressing at the opposite end of the well looked after pitch, but it was noticable that the young legs were beginning to tire.

Subs were made by both teams and this seemed to aid the homesters, when a ball from midfield found out MORGAN BELL who turned his man and fired low into the far corner of the net after 64 minutes.

Colts werent to give up and pressed again on the right side and a cross shot beat the keeper but 2 defenders cleared the ball off the line, whilst Beeston pressed forward and a 25 yard shot was turned over the bar.

After 82 minutes, sub and Beeston man through and through, saw a ball cleared out to the right wing some 40 yards out, where he took it on the volley that flew in the net to make it 3-1..I recall him scoring a free kick some years ago from the same distance v Ravenshead FC at Beeston's old ground of Layton Crescent.

I feel that all match officials, Referee Ian Wilkinson and his team of the Assistants Steve Hines & Michael Evans were very impressive today.
