RICHARDSON'S BRACE SECURES POINTS FOR THE REDS

With Hazel away still up in Preston at her daughters,I caught the local bus in to Mansfield and then the pronto bus which drop me near to the Hutt pub, a walk with my stroller that takes 2 minutes in car took me over 30 minutes to reach the ground, as the sun shone down.

The game kicked off with both teams winning their opening matches on Saturday so a close game to watch I thought.

The First Half saw the visitors with much of the forward play and the better of the chances, whilst the Reds battled at the back to see the end of the first half at 0-0.

The Second Half kicked off and the Reds were on the front foot straight away and on 47 minutes LEIGHTON RICHRDSON cut in from the left side and slotted his team in to a 1-0 lead.

Eastwood & Kimberley kept coming forward but were met by stout defending or good saves from the home keeper.

As the game went in to the 2nd minute of injury time, a counter attack break by the homesters saw NICOLAS HINES net to double his teams advantage.

From the restart, the Reds regained the ball and LEIGHTON RICHARDSON made it 3-0. There was still time for them to rattle the post from a shot in the final seconds.

On another day the visitors could well have bagged five or six goals, so will be disappointed but will bounce back, as the result will give Ravenshead Reds a chance to push on.

CALVERTON'S DEFENCE GIVE WOLLATON THE POINTS

With Hazel away at her daughters with Shawn and our grandson, it looked like I wouldnt be able to get to a match but then Calverton MW manager rang me as he needed to pick up his teamsheet book and offered me a lift to and back home from the match.

Calverton MW have new shirt sponsoring, as boxing world champion Leigh Wood lives in the village and has sponsored their kit.

At 2,30pm a deluge of heavy rain began, but within 15 minutes, the sun came back out.

The match kicked off and both sides had good chances, but on 9 minutes a loose back pass from a Calverton defender saw ROBERT WALLACE whips in and strike the ball past the home keeper to give his side the lead.

Two minutes later and it was 2-0 as a cross from the left wing found the head of ROBERT WALLACE for him to guide the ball home.

Calverton did have chances but couldnt convert any and things got worse for them when on 27 minutes, a corner from the left side found out SAMMY JOE SMITH who nedged the ball home.

Half time came and Calverton used all their subs, but after just 12 seconds of the half, one of them fell down to the ground in much pain and had to be helped off and it looked like he had broken his collarbone, letsall hope that isnt as bad as it looked, this meant that the homesters had to play the rest of the match with 10 players.

Calverton did have the odd chance but Wollaton looked more likely to add to their tally to which they did in the 76th minute, when another misguided back pass, this time saw STEPHEN LAMBERT fired hsteam in to a 4 goal lead.

To Calverton;s credit, they kept trying to play and in the final minute found a way through the Wollaton defence for JACK CRAIG to round the visiting keeper to score a consolation goal.

Must give a mention to match referee JOHN WOODWARD who I felt had a excellent match.

Before and after the match, I would like to thank Referee John Woodward for donating £5, Ruben Clay for donating £10 from Wollaton Reserves FC and to Rob Musson who donated £5 on behalf of Calverton MW FC, which now takes the running total to £2,517.50p for the charity BUTTERFLY.

EASTGATE'S HAT TRICK ADDS TO UNITED's MISERY DAY

SOUTHWELL CITY RESERVES 6 - 2 KEYWORTH UNITED FC

Southwell City Reserves kicked off their 1st ever campaign in Premier Division of the NSL with a 6-2 victoty over a Keyworth United team that were reduced to nine players as they saw 2 red cards and at times played with 8 players due to a couple of sin bins.

just before kick off, Keyworth keeper Glenn Guyatt donated £20 and Jeff from Southwell City Reserves kindly donated £5 towards the Charity Blog in aid of Butterfly.

The game kicked off and th visitors took a early lead on just 2 minutes when THOMAS SISWICK netted after a good move.

The Zebras were soon back on level terms after 9 minutes when FRASER BRICKNELL converted a penalty after a handball situation.

Keyworth then had the first of their players sent off on 12 minutes, in the 28th minute, they saw rd when they wee reduced to 9 players. Southwell pressed forward but it didnt look like their 2 man advantage was going to count as we were heading towards half time, but a minute in to injury time, the homesters made the breakthrough when HENRY EASTGATE skipped the ball over the forward coming keeper to make to 2-1. With 4 minutes of added time, a neat move by Southwell saw them increase their lead through SAM ROBINSON.

36 seconds in to the second half and it was 4-1 when HENRY EASTGATE scooped the ball in to the far corner of the net.

After 54 minutes, HENRY EASTGATE sscored his hat trick, then on the hour KEYSHAWNN BONSU made it 6-1 with his first touch of the ball.

In the 80th minute, the home keeper made 4 saves in one keyworth attack, but they didnt give up and THOMAS SISWICK pulled a goal back in the 85th minute.

Attendance was 48

This Years Charity is BUTTERFLY which supports men, women and children that have been in abusive relationships, with the donations and goals scored today, it takes the running £2,497.25p

Aroundthegrounds Charity Blog Charity Day 2023

Hucknall Town FC kindly offered me their pitch and facilities but up till Tuesday the matches would be played on the outside pitch, but a decision was made to play both games on the main pitch. I had a lot of the NSL Rep Team drop out 1 by 1 and so both games had to be played by the same players for the Rep side which they did them and their clubs proud. Each player made a donation to play and Hucknall Town's players had also had a whip round.

I made a choice this year not to manage the teams, so I could take things a bit more easier and I could walk round( well infact stroll round on my stroller and chat away to people and thank them for their support. With last years manager Arnold Town Reserves manager, Id also got other managers in Southwell Citys Reserves Manager Brett Bramwell, Awsworth Villa FC Chairman Kev Buxton and the first time in NSL History a lady Manager in Nicola Taylor.

The First Game kicked off and was quite a good match with Rep Team winning 2-0, I really should of got the champaign out then, but as I walked round the tombola had nearly sold out and folks were still coming through the turnstitles, with league committee member Kirsty and her friend having manned it during the first game and doing a great job before my stepdaughter Sarah took over and Hazel also mucking in.

Just before the end of the 1st mach ended, Jordan the founder of the charity BUTTERFLY came along with 3 of her children and thanked the crowd who was very generous in their applause.

The 5 officials all gave up their time free of charge and also had a go on the raffle, even Sarah tried to charge them £3 to get in!!!

The Second Game kicked off but Hucknall Town's 1st team arent at step 5 for no reason and played some really good football, but the tired legs of the NSL Rep team did themselves credit by not giving up, they may well have lost 9-0 and 9-2 over the 2 matches but there was no losers, as the winners were the charity BUTTERFLY and on the whole event when counted up, we had raised a amazing £1,880.00, without everyone behind the scenes from raffle sponsors, to people who help out on the day, no matter how little or much they do, these things dont run like clockwork, so thankyou to everyone for making the day a success.

Those that have never read my Aroundthegrounds Charity Blog before, I  choose a small charity around January/February and look  for the ones without paid workers, so the raised money goes directly to the users. Each game I attend I put 25p in to the charity bank account and when going to matches folks come up or clubs have a whip round for the blog, come around March, I present the cheque over to the charity, on my blog is a list of donators and a running total, so you will see that the amount raised from the charity match has been added and the running total at present stands at £2,450.25p

Played at The Stag Ground, Kimberley

Played in baking sunshine on possibly the hottest day of the year, a young Kimberley Miners Welfare team took on Stapleford Town Reserves in front of a crowd of 240 plus a lot of kids in attendance.

Was greeted on arrival by Danny Staley who Ive known since  he used to go to the Stag Ground as a small kid and was soon armed with a cuppa.

On to the players gate and with both squads inside the ground, it was time to meet the match officials and with both line ups, it was soon on to the pitch to announce them.

The First Half, I took up in the seated stand around the half way line, whilst Hazel went round selling the charity raffle tickets.

The First Half saw both teams block each other out, but it was the Miners who had the best chances in the final few minutes of the half, when striking the crossbar and also the Stapleford keeper blocking a few shots.

The Second Half saw the Saxons pressing more forward as I walked to the far corner of the ground and had a chat with a local chap and on the hour, the Miners were reduced down to ten players, it wasa incident that I cant say I saw, Infact I didnt notice they were down to ten men until someone mentioned it later in the game.

Into extra time and Town were first out the blocks with a ball bobbling around the penalty area before HARRIS MAQSOOD fired home in the 93rd minute to give his side the lead.

Both teams pushed but to no avail and after Town;s 1st team had won the Premier League Championship and the County Cup Trophy, the Reserves added their name in to some silverware.

Before the presentations, was a very special one from the Nottinghamshire Senior League to John Beeston who was Secretary for the final time of Kimberley MW FC this afternoon and was heavily involved in the set up of the Nottinghamshire Senior League, as well as being in local non league football scene for many years.

I must thank everyone bought raffle tickets today, to which Hazel raised £104 to  take the running total for BUTTERFLY to £530.00

The next match I will be attending is the Charity Match Im organsing on Saturday 1st July on the outside pitch of the NEW Hucknall Town FC ground, there is a MASSIVE Raffle with already over 60 prizes collect, the tickets are already on sale at £5 per strip. KING SCOTT CROWNS A HAT TRICK ON CORONATION DAY

AWSWORTH VILLA FC 7 RADCLIFFE OLYMPIC FC 2

Not having been to Awsworth for a while and not having seen Radcliffe Olympic for ages, this match fitted my bill for today, I do like Awsworth's ground where you can sit at the top of the hill and lookdown on the pitch above the players and is great for taking photos, when not raining of course.

A greeting from both clubs on arrival and from todays 3 league officials, Ref Lee Harrison and his assistants Tim Bee and Kev Guise and a shock to get both teamsheets a hour before kick off. With the rain I knew the benches on the hill would be wet, but some one had thrown in the inside bin and cardboard box for me to rip up on put on the bench so I didnt get a wet bum.

I was soon joined by Groundhopping father and son from Retford and a quick hello from local hopper Wayne Morrison, but it also good to see a old friend in attendance Albert Greaves.

The game kicked off and it was like a end of the season game, where someone had to nudge you if there was a chance as both teams were cancelling each other out, but on 24 minutes, KANE BRADY beat the offside trap to put the Villa in front.

Half time came and went and Awsworth Chairperson bought me a cuppa, the second half kicked off and it was noticed by Albert that Radcliffe only had 10 players on the pitch, though had 4 subs named on the teamsheet, but maybe they put them on incase they turned up late.

It was the 10 men of Olympic who had the first chance of the second half with a shot what went narrowly wide, but on 52 minutes after a nice move by the homesters doubled their lead to 2-0 through THOMAS SCOTT. Four minutes later, a corner from the right side found a unmarked THOMAS SCOTT who headed home to make it 3-0.

On 62 minutes, Radcliffe pulled a goal back, when a corner from the left was headed downwards towards goal and hit the back of the net by JAKE MORRIS.

On 67 Minutes, Radcliffe were given a lifeline when they got a penalty, captain Paul Durham hit it low and the home keeper guessed the correct direction, from the clearence, it set MASON PROCTOR SMITH free to round the Olympic keeper to make it 4-1.

The Visitors were not giving up and on 73 minutes, BASSEY OKON reduced the arrears to 4-2.

On 80 minutes, the visitors with 10 players legs began to tire and Villa began to press forward and a shot from just inside the box from THOMAS SCOTT found the back of the net to complete his hat trick. Within 40 seconds sub AARON COYLE found the net to make it 6-2, by now even the referee was losing count of the goals.

In the final minute just as the rain began to fall, AARON COYLE finished the goal scoring off to make it 7-2

I thought all 3 officials had a great game with bookings and both teams wanting to play football.

After the match in the pub, referee Lee Harrison donated £5 to the charity blog, so with the goals scored it takes the blog running total to £426.00, also I would like to thank all 3 officials plus All Awsworth Committee Members and players for buying raffle tickets for the upcoming NSL Charity Day which after the event wiil of course be added on to the running total of the Charity Blog for BUTTERFLY
